Just like yesterday, the day of August 4 got off to a good start. Ranked 2nd at the start of the Medal Race this morning, Camille Lecointre and Aloïse Retornaz took bronze in the 470 class event, capturing the 3rd medal for French sailing in Tokyo after the silver medals won by Charline Picon and Thomas Goyard.

The French women’s handball and basketball teams are both heading to the semi-finals. After a resounding victory against the Netherlands (32-22), the women’s handball team has now reached the last four in the competition, where they’ll be meeting Sweden on Friday at 2pm. They were joined, almost simultaneously, by the French women’s basketball team. They had a tough match but finally managed to overcome the imposing Spaniards, and will be playing their third consecutive Olympic semi-final on Friday (1 o’clock pm), against the Japanese.

In climbingAnouck Jaubert has moved on in the competition. The double winner of the speed climbing World Cup will be competing in the final of the women’s combined event on Friday (10:30 am).

In artistic swimming, Charlotte and Laura Tremble finished eighth in the duet free routine final: a fine achievement for their first time at the Olympics!

And tomorrow promises to be just as busy! Pascal Martinot-Lagarde (see article) will compete in the 110m hurdles final at 4:55 am, Maxime Beaumont will compete in the kayak semi-finals at 2:30, and Élodie Clouvel and Marie Oteiza will start the modern pentathlon events with fencing.

Not forgetting the men’s handball and basketball semi-finals at 10:00 and 13:00 respectively (see article).
