Groupe BPCE is teaming up with the 3rd Olympic and Paralympic Week in its capacity as a partner of Paris 2024.
Changing the place of sport in society
“1, 2, 3, go!” Organized for the third year in succession, the Olympic and Paralympic Week (OPW) will run from February 4 to 9, 2019. Nearly 1,000 schools and educational establishments will be taking part in this event.
The aim of this weeklong event is to change the way sport is perceived by society in general, and notably by young people, from children in infant schools to students at university.
How? By combining traditional teaching with sport and physical exercise, and by using sport as a teaching aid for learning different disciplines. It also provides an opportunity for young people to discover the Olympic and Paralympic sports, and to be closer to the champions themselves by sharing their passion for sport.
This year, the watchword chosen for the OPW is “move more” and greater diversity in sport. The event was officially launched on February 4 at the Dora Maar middle school in Saint-Denis (département 93), located in the heart of the future Athletes Village of the Paris 2024 Games. The launch was attended by Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024, Roxana Maracineanu, Minister of Sports in the French government, Sophie Cluzel, Secretary of State in charge of People with Disabilities, and Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of National Education and Youth. On this occasion, the college was awarded the “Generation 2024” label for its initiatives promoting the development of sports activities with children; 850 schools have already received this label throughout France.
CASDEN on the starting line
Acutely aware since the moment of its creation of the values of sharing, solidarity, openness and universality, CASDEN contributed extensively to this event through the organization of a large number of activities. Starting on December 14, 2018, Ma Belle Tribu (My Beautiful Tribe), the crowdfunding platform launched by the bank, organized a call for projects on the theme of sport at school. The reward for the three winners includes financial support of up to 1,000 euros and personalized support from the Ma Belle Tribu team. The donation campaigns to accompany them will debut this week. A dozen CASDEN Delegates and correspondents will also launch initiatives in their schools, such as marathons or mini-Olympics…
