Groupe BPCE promotes eco-responsibility

On the occasion of the European Week for Sustainable Development, running from May 30 to June 5, Groupe BPCE is mobilizing its efforts around a unifying theme: eco-responsibility.

Better waste management, energy consumption control, pollution control, etc. By adopting simple, everyday actions, everyone can help to improve the environment. This eco-responsibility approach has been chosen as the guiding principle for the Group's actions during the European Week for Sustainable Development.

Eco-responsibility resonates with the Group's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach. Every employee can play their part thanks to everyday actions that are often very simple, whether at home, in their company, their professional activities, or even in their business. There are many examples to illustrate these practices. For example, Crédit Coopératif and Caisse d'Epargne Normandie pay a mileage allowance to their employees travelling by bicycle. For its part, BPCE Purchasing has published a guide of good practices for employees when traveling on business, in which the train is largely recommended as a non-polluting means of transport. Finally, waste sorting (paper in dedicated bins, plastic bottles in recycling bins) is now offered in many companies, such as Natixis and BPCE SA.

The Group's CSR approach, beyond environmental issues, is committed to the other three areas of sustainable development: the economic, social and societal dimensions. The Banque Populaire banks and the Caisses d'Epargne put this approach into practice for themselves, their customers and the development of their territories through initiatives to prevent banking exclusion, to support investments that promote the energy transition, that finance green growth, etc. In this way, they contribute to enhancing the value of their cooperative model in a tangible way, measured by sustainable development indicators. As a result, Groupe BPCE remains the leader in microcredit in France and one of the leaders in renewable energy financing.

At Group level, a social commitment project is currently under development...
