Journée Olympique 2019

Celebrating Olympic sport

‘Olympic Day’ will be held on June 22nd and 23rd. Groupe BPCE is fully involved in this celebration of sport through its different banks.

Under the banner of Paris 2024, the Sports Festival this year is teaming up with ‘Olympic Day’ to devote 2 days – June 22 and 23 – to sport. Over the weekend, nearly 600 events will be organized throughout France to celebrate sport and allow all French people to try their hand at a host of disciplines and (who knows?) discover new passions. As a premium partner of Paris 2024, Groupe BPCE is fully involved in this event through its different banks in order to celebrate the Olympic movement along with its values of respect, friendship and excellence.

In Paris, Place de la Concorde will be transformed into a huge Olympic stadium: 75,000 square meters dedicated to the promotion and development of sport with courts (tennis, handball, etc.), an athletics track, a climbing wall, and demonstrations (three-a-side basketball and BMX bikes). Some thirty federations will also be represented to enable the public to discover a range of Olympic and Paralympic sports. The French savings banks will be there alongside the French Basketball and Handball Federations (of which it is a partner) while the Banque Populaire will be alongside the French Sailing Federation to promote these Olympic disciplines and encourage more people to practice them.

In the Paris region, attention will be focused on the water sports center in the town of Vaires-sur-Marne on June 22nd with the inauguration of the first Olympic site, dedicated to the rowing and canoeing events of the 2024 Paris Games.

Run Paris 2024

Paris 2024 and the French Athletics Federation are also organizing the ‘Run Paris 2024’ event on June 23rd with a series of 11 races over a distance of 2,024 meters organized in Paris and the provinces: Villepinte, Bordeaux, Dijon, Marseille, Montpellier, Mulhouse, Rennes, Saint-Etienne, Tours, Villeneuve d'Ascq, and Angers.
