Nous autres (“The rest of us”): a competition designed to combat racism
This competition, organized by the Lilian Thuram Foundation, CASDEN Banque Populaire, and the Groupe MGEN mutual insurance company under the aegis of the French Ministry of Education & Youth, is designed to develop class activities enabling school students to dissect racist stereotypes and prejudices in a fun and educational manner.
Pupils in participating classes from kindergarten to 6th grade produced artistic works devoted to “the defense of equality between all human beings.” The budding artists could express themselves in a variety of different forms, through live art (reading, poetry, text, story, tale, song, mime, theater), plastic art (painting, sculpture) or an artistic video.
A panel composed of representatives from the Lilian Thuram Foundation, Groupe MGEN, CASDEN Banque Populaire, and the Ministry of Education & Youth selected 18 prize-winning classes.
