Handball Euro 2020 - Equipe de France féminine

Women’s Handball Euro 2020: a perfect start for the French team

With two victories, the French women's team couldn’t have got off to a better start to their competition! The players are now qualified for the main round of the tournament.

For their debut match on Friday, December 4th, the French team and defending champions gained a short but extremely valuable lead over Montenegro (24-23). The match was tough but the reigning European champions showed their mettle and snatched their first victory, getting off to a good start in their Euro 2020 tournament!

On Sunday, the French women showed a completely different side to their game in their second group match against Slovenia. Having calmed the nerves that held them back in their first match, the French team qualified in style by beating a tenacious Slovenia (17-27). Right from the start of the match, the French players prevented their opponents from developing their game by being uncompromising in defense and effective in attack. The performance put up by the goalkeepers (Amandine Leynaud followed by Cléopatre Darleux) should be applauded, as the Slovenians were unable to score a single goal for 7 long minutes.

Qualified for the next stage in the competition, the French team has got off to a perfect start before their big match against Denmark. The next encounter will take place tonight (December 8) at 8:30 pm and will be aired on the beIN SPORTS TV channel.
