Laura Tarantola and Claire Bové in the women’s lightweight double sculls category enjoyed a perfect start to the competition by winning their series ahead of the Italian European champions Rodini and Cesarini. This means they are qualified for the semi-finals on Tuesday morning.
There was disappointment for the fencer and European champion Coraline Vitalis, eliminated at the beginning of the competition by the Estonian Julia Beljajeva.
The French handball team began their tournament in masterly form by beating Argentina 33-27. Melvyn Richardson put up a particularly impressive performance when he scored seven goals out of seven attempted shots.
The French women's 3x3 basketball team started its tournament – for which it is one of the favorites – by losing to the United States, 17-10.
The French sailing team (with the RS:X and Laser series) and the French surfing team are beginning their events! These will be performances worth following very closely!
