The final curtain has fallen on the Tokyo Olympics… and the countdown to Paris 2024 has begun: the French Olympic Games start today!
On January 1, 2019, Groupe BPCE and all its companies became the first Premium Partner of Paris 2024. Two and a half years later, a new page was turned on August 8, 2021 with the transfer of the Olympic flag from Tokyo 2020 to Paris 2024.
Five years after this emblem was handed to the Governor of Tokyo, the Paris Mayor was in turn given the flag with the Olympic rings during the handover ceremony in Tokyo. Simultaneously, back in France in the heart of the capital, the handover between the two cities was celebrated by a series of festivities in the presence of the athletes of the French Olympic Team: the unfurling of a gigantic flag on the Eiffel Tower, a flyover by the Patrouille de France precision aerobatics unit, an exceptional concert staged by Woodkid, the author and composer of the music of this handover ceremony!
Sharing values and emotion
The transfer of the flag, a formality representing the first ceremony of Paris 2024, officially marks the beginning of the Olympiad in France. For our Group, our companies and all our employees, it also represents a new stage in our corporate history, a new step enabling us to reassert with greater force and for the next three years the values we share with the Olympic movement in our everyday activities: team spirit, the drive to surpass oneself, solidarity, humanism, and high performance. It also offers our Group an opportunity to mobilize its collective energy still further in favor of society at large, our territories, and the entire country. Our Olympic Games began today!
