Tokyo 2020 : médaille olympique pour les handballeurs français

The men's handball team strikes gold!

Olympic champions! Thanks to their victory over Denmark, the French handball team has made a new addition to what is already an incredible track record.

They did it! After losing in Rio in 2016 when Denmark led France by just two goals, the team seemed bent on revenge in the countdown before the final. And, when the competing teams finally met, the French men held their own against the Danes, remaining focused and disciplined from the very start of the match. The team coached by Guillaume Gille ultimately triumphed in a match full of suspense, beating the Danes 25-23 in a breathtaking final.

After Beijing and London, the French men’s handball team took Olympic gold for the third time in their history and made a new addition to the already impressive list of achievements in their discipline.

In its capacity as a partner of the French Handball Federation, the Caisse d'Epargne is proud to have accompanied the men’s team in their tremendous sporting adventure for more than six years. It is also proud to have shared the excitement of this magnificent tournament, which saw the French come out top of their group ahead of Spain before going on to beat Bahrain, Egypt and, ultimately, the defending champion Denmark. Thank you gentlemen!

And it's not over yet! To continue sharing in this excitement, be sure to watch the women’s handball team who, in their final against Russia, will try to follow the triumphant example set by the men. The next key rendezvous is tomorrow, Sunday at 8:00 am (French time).
