A Mayors Exhibition dedicated to the ecological transition… with the Caisse d'Epargne

The Caisse d'Epargne, the benchmark banking partner of the public sector in France, is giving tangible expression to its determination to work closely with elected representatives by sending a strong contingent of sales representatives to the Mayors & Local Authorities Exhibition (Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales). The goal pursued by the bank is to facilitate the day-to-day activities of these local officials and to support the ecological and energy transition of their territories.

These local players are facing a great many challenges. The Caisse d'Epargne, the No.1 provider of local authority financing with €43 billion in loan outstandings in 2021, was able to highlight its know-how and range of innovations in favor of territorial development, social cohesion, and ecological transformation.

Priority to the environmental transition

A number of noteworthy events highlighted the support given by the Caisse d’Épargne to the environmental transition of local authorities:

The signing of a €1.5 million, 10-year impact loan with an environmental dimension (a loan indexed to the borrower's non-financial performance according to a set of environmental criteria) between the Seine-et-Marne Departmental Energy Union (Syndicat départemental des énergies de Seine-et-Marne, SDESM) and the Caisse d'Epargne Ile de France

The Caisse d'Epargne Normandie, Kiwaï (a participatory financing platform dedicated to sustainable development projects) and Stations-e (the No.1 national network of connected multi-service electric charging stations) signed a partnership to speed up the energy transition and contribute to regional development by creating a network of electric charging stations.

With less than two years to go before the opening of the Olympic & Paralympic Games Paris 2024, the Caisse d'Epargne is offering elected officials an EIB financing package dedicated to renovating and upgrading local community sports facilities. The package provides financing at subsidized rates for projects of between €40,000 and €25 million relating to the renovation or extension of infrastructures such as multi-sports halls and gymnasiums, aquatic complexes, team sports training fields, and athletics tracks.

Thanks to its different activities in this area, the Caisse d'Epargne is a natural supporter of local authorities, the principal source of sport financing in France, providing €12.5 billion in funding each year* in this area. The signature of a partnership with ANDES, the national elected officials sporting association, during the Exhibition is another sign of this support in the leadup to the Olympic & Paralympic Games Paris 2024.

Energy transition and regional development: these two ambitions correspond perfectly with ‘BPCE 2024,’ the Group’s strategic plan that focuses in particular on the challenge of climate change, as well as the Caisse d'Epargne's ambition to assert itself as the banker of choice for local and regional cooperation and cohesion, and to remain the front-ranking bank in the local authority market.
