Charlotte Tremble (artistic swimming): in the Bronze Age!

Charlotte Tremble, a synchronized swimmer supported by the Caisse d'Epargne Hauts de France, won three historic medals with the French artistic swimming team at the European Aquatics Championships in Rome, pending the return of her sister Laura to the French team.

Historic medals

They all called out in unison “Bronze Medal!” after reaching the final podium of the free routine event… and Charlotte Tremble and her French teammates had plenty to cheer about! They had just won their third bronze medal at these European Aquatics Championships after claiming bronze both in the team technical event and in the highlights routine, making it the first time since 2007 that French synchronized swimmers brought home a medal from an international competition! This came as a fine recognition for the outstanding performance achieved by the team of synchronized swimmers trained by Laure Obry (Head Coach) and Julie Fabre (Manager of the French team).

Twenty-three-year-old Charlotte Tremble must have been moved when she thought of her twin sister Laura. They’ve shared everything all their lives, especially in artistic swimming (formerly known as ‘synchronized swimming’), which they both started at the age of 6 in Senlis north of Paris. They subsequently joined the coach Corinne Rousselin in the Paris suburb of Rueil Malmaison before moving to the elite INSEP training center with Pascale Meyet where they made enormous progress thanks to their appetite for hard work and their open-mindedness. They also took up yoga and Pilates to better satisfy the many demands made on their bodies by their chosen discipline, a sport requiring a host of different physical and artistic qualities.

Two-pronged ambition

They then joined the French team while simultaneously studying aeronautical engineering, aviation being one of their other passions. It was by pursuing this challenging two-pronged ambition that they managed to qualify for last year’s Tokyo Olympics where they finished in a fine 8th position, a result that augurs well for the future of French artistic swimming. Unfortunately, Laura had to undergo an operation on her knee and couldn’t join the French team for these European Championships in Rome. Winning three medals is truly a great achievement for Charlotte as well as for the French women's team, a result that puts them in a strong position as they prepare for the Olympic Games Paris 2024… all the more so as the French swimmers obtained a good score with their highly original free routine on the theme of art, choreographed by the coaches and the swimmers themselves. So Charlotte and Laura Tremble, both supported by the Caisse d'Epargne Hauts de France, can justifiably be optimistic when they look forward to their upcoming events.
