Congratulations to the French Olympic Team!

After more than two weeks of competitions, the curtain has now fallen on Beijing… before the lights come back on again for the Paralympic athletes!

The entire Groupe BPCE congratulates the French Olympic Team, the athletes of the French Ski Federation, and especially Justine Braisaz and Maurice Manificat, two athletes sponsored by the Caisse d'Epargne Rhône Alpes, for their medals.

The biathlon was a major source of medals for the entire French delegation. The biathlete Quentin Fillon Maillet will undoubtedly remain the most outstanding French athlete of these Games winning a total of 5 medals (2 gold, 3 silver) in 6 races in the same Olympiad: an unprecedented performance for a French athlete since... 1924 with the fencer Roger Ducret at the Paris Games and, before him, Julien Brulé in archery in the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp!

Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, a biathlete sponsored by the Caisse d'Epargne Rhône Alpes, who literally stole the show in the shooting stages of the event, won a superb gold medal in the mass start. Anaïs Chevalier Bouchet brought home a fine silver medal in the 15km event. And finally, in the team event, the biathletes left their mark once again with silver medals in the mixed and men's relays

Clément Noël, the first French gold medalist in Alpine skiing (slalom) since Antoine Dénériaz in 2006 (downhill) will be bringing home from Beijing the finest of medals, gold.

Still in alpine skiing, Johan Clarey claimed a silver medal after putting up a tremendous performance in the downhill event in alpine skiing.

Tess Ledeux also stood on the second step of the podium after the final of the women’s big air event (freestyle skiing), beaten by the Chinese competitor by a whisker! Just like Chloe Trespeuch who, in the final of the women’s snowboard cross event, won her second Olympic medal after claiming bronze in Sochi in 2014.

And there were other medals in other disciplines: the bronze medal won by Mathieu Faivre in Alpine skiing; bronze again for the four French cross-country skiers: Richard Jouve, Hugo Lapalus, Clément Parisse and Maurice Manificat, supported by the Caisse d'Epargne Rhône Alpes.

Don’t forget to come back in two weeks' time to support the French Paralympic Team, partnered by Groupe BPCE and its companies.
