One champion, one trainer: “Impressed by Tiffany Gauthier’s sheer determination”

The Caisse d'Epargne Rhône Alpes is supporting five athletes selected for the Beijing Olympics. For each of them, we asked one of their trainers to give a description of their respective athletes.

Tiffany Gauthier, a 29-year-old native of Saint Etienne, is a downhill and Super-G specialist. She finished 13th in the downhill event and came 22nd in the Super-G in PyeongChang. She is a member of the Tignes Sports Club.

Cyril Nocenti, the former downhill racer and one of her former trainers, is now the Club’s coordinator. He speaks of his respect for Tiffany, who is scheduled to start the Super-G in Beijing on February 11th and the downhill event on February 15th, both at 4:00 in the morning, French time.

“I’m really proud to see Tiffany taking part in the Olympics for the second time. All the more so when you consider all the difficulties she’s had to face, all the injuries she’s suffered during her career with frequent stays in hospital. But, each time, she has overcome her adversity; she has never given up. She really gives us a lesson in perseverance and courage, and we’ve always been impressed by her sheer determination. But she’s also someone who’s prepared to give her time to others, to young people, to the coaches. She’s a role model for the young generation of athletes in the Tignes Sports Club. And we naturally keep close track of her races.

From a sporting point of view, she has always shown immense potential; she’s able to achieve good results on the hardest of tracks.... She has that great quality of commitment and great snow contact.”

Tiffany is a member of the group of athletes sponsored by the Caisse d'Epargne Rhône Alpes, a major partner of the French ski and snowboard teams for the past 25 years. Learn more about this commitment HERE!
