Men's World Handball Championship: the French team back in the fray!

The French men’s team is entering the competition this Wednesday in single-minded pursuit of the same objective: to win a 7th world title!

The 28th edition of the men's world handball championship starts this week in Poland and Sweden, running from January 11 to 29, 2023. France is one of the favorites to win the competition and the shared objective of the players coached by Guillaume Gille is to be world champions for the 7th time!

Placed in a particularly competitive group along with Poland, Slovenia and Saudi Arabia, the French team will have their work cut out for them in their first three matches. The first event will bring them up against Poland on Wednesday, January 11 at 9:00 pm.

A reassuring and highly instructive preparatory phase

After two victories against the Netherlands (43-32) and Egypt (33-32) in the French Tournament, Les Bleus are confident as they switch into World Cup mode. They are “ready to start this competition with a bang,” according to their coach Guillaume Gille. “The interesting thing for us was to make progress, to reboot the French players’ collective team spirit and unite them all around the World Championship project. And now, let's get going! Let's go and achieve something memorable in Poland and Sweden.”

The Caisse d’Epargne, a visible partner

The Caisse d’Epargne, which has been partnering the French Handball Federation since January 2015, will be the French team’s No.1 supporter throughout the competition. The bank's visibility will be ensured thanks to its logo emblazoned on the players' shirts, thanks to the Tous Hand Bleus (‘All French Handball’) supporters' club – nearly 100 supporters will be following the French team’s progress through the competition – and, finally, thanks to trailers and billboard ads broadcast on TV before and during the matches. The competition will also enable the bank to express itself on the Twitter and Facebook feeds @Esprithandball.

The program

A total of 32 teams are competing in the World Championship’s 2023 edition. Eight groups of four teams have been formed for the preliminary round due to run from January 15 to 18. The top three teams in each group will then qualify for the main round (January 18 to 22). The last phase will be played from January 27 until the final on January 29.
