The French team wins a bronze medal at EuroBasket Women 2023

Thanks to their victory over Hungary (82-68), the French women’s national basketball team has won their eighth medal in a row at the European Championships.

The French team is coming home from Ljubljana (Slovenia) with yet another medal to add to their collection! After their disappointing loss to Belgium (67-63), the French women basketball players bounced back in their third-place match against Hungary (82-68) on Sunday, June 25 to claim bronze at the European Women Basketball Championships. This is France's eighth consecutive medal at the European championships, even if the French players were hoping to win gold, as they did in 2001 and 2009.
For their final match in the European Championships, the French team had all the qualities they needed to simplify their task: intensity, grit, tenacity in defense, and an unwavering determination.

Gruda breaks the 900-point barrier

In her eighth and final European championship, Sandrine Gruda (now 36 years old and cheered on by the French public) became the third player to exceed a total of 900 points in the EuroBasket Championships. Along with her team-mates, she came home with a bronze medal. The Stozice Arena was filled, once again, with smiling French faces!

This match marked the end of the season for the French players. We now look forward to the Paris 2024 Games and a set of new ambitions.
