The Paris 2024 Paralympic torch relay route revealed

The official route to be taken by the Paris 2024 Paralympic flame was unveiled on November 10.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, taking place from August 28 to September 8, 2024, promise inspiration and the thrill of competition for all – partners, para-athletes, and the general public. This global event embodies the values of inclusion, determination and grit. And the Paralympic torch relay is one of the highlights leading up to the Games themselves.

The spirit of the flame

The route of the Paris 2024 Paralympic torch is an historic opportunity to galvanize support for Paralympians and share the excitement and emotion of Paris 2024 with our clients, members, staff and people throughout France. Groupe BPCE, alongside the Banques Populaires and Caisses d'Epargne, Official Sponsors of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Torch Relay, is proud to be part of this celebration of paralympic athletes.

After the Olympic Games closing ceremony, the flame will burn brightly once again, this time for the Paralympic Games. The torch will be lit in Stoke Mandeville, a town 60 km to the north of London, the birthplace of the Paralympic movement in 1948. From there, it will cross the Channel and continue its journey to Paris. On its final leg, the torch will light the cauldron during the opening ceremony for the Paralympic Games on August 28, 2024, returning the spirit of the flame to France once more. A hundred Group customers, members and staff will have the chance to take part in the torch relay.

Committed and engaged companies

A festive and community event, the Paralympic torch relay is also the ideal opportunity to put the spotlight on fostering inclusion of people with disabilities. This is something we strive for in the Banques Populaires, the Caisses d'Epargne and across the entire Groupe BPCE. Day after day and year after year we are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in the company and in the wider society.  We do more than talk the talk: Groupe BPCE's policy promotes inclusion of people with disabilities. It focuses on job retention, employability, recruitment, employment support and on changing attitudes to disability. And then there are the many initiatives by Group companies to give people access to playing sports. We do this by funding wheelchairs, promoting the “HandEnsemble" para-handball program, financing works to improve accessibility at several sailing clubs, and supporting the publication of a white paper on sailing and disability in the Mediterranean. Finally, reflecting the commitment by Group companies, we support almost 70 para-athletes in their preparations for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and other sporting events, and to make a success of their professional careers
