The athlete, supported by Banque Populaire Bourgogne Franche-Comté, has been chosen to carry the flag of the French Paralympic Team.
Sandrine will lead the French delegation alongside the para-tennis player Stéphane Houdet. The judoka, supported by Banque Populaire Bourgogne Franche-Comté via the Performance Pact Foundation and gold medalist in the 2016 Games in Rio, was chosen by the public following a vote for the pair of athletes (1 woman/1 man) to be the flag bearers in Tokyo. She will carry the flag alongside Stéphane Houdet, one of the world’s leading wheelchair tennis players and four-time Paralympic medalist.
For the first time in the history of the French team, they will have the honor of representing the entire nation at Tokyo during the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games on August 24. Sandrine and Stéphane will be preceded in their role as flag bearers by Clarisse Agbegnenou (judo) and Samir Ait Saïd (gymnastics) appointed to represent the French delegation on July 23 at the opening ceremony of the first part of the games.
Banque Populaire Bourgogne Franche-Comté, and all of Groupe BPCE with it, is proud to accompany Sandrine in this new adventure and to support her sporting performance. As a partner of the French Olympic & Paralympic Team, the Group will not fail to demonstrate its support for the whole French delegation in its quest to capture new medals in Tokyo.
Deeply involved in the world of sport, the Group has set up a major support system for athletes as they train for their competitions but also as they prepare for their future professional lives with the backing, in particular, by the Performance Pact Foundation. Thanks to the commitment of the Banques Populaires, the Caisses d’Epargne, Natixis, and Banque Palatine, nearly one hundred athletes and para-athletes from all the different regions of mainland and overseas France have benefited from this sponsorship scheme.
