The different entities organizing the 2024 Paris Olympic Games have reaffirmed their desire to involve the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) sector in this adventure.
This is the aim of the “Entreprendre 2024” initiative launched by our Group.
“At a time when the current crisis is calling our business models into question [the SSE sector is bearing the full brunt of the economic and social crisis, with more than 60% of its associations at a standstill], the members of the SSE 2024 strategic committee reaffirm their determination to make social actors central to the organization of the Games,” stated the press release published on Wednesday, May 27 by Paris 2024. The publication of the press release also provided an opportunity to remind readers of the major economic opportunities open to these companies. “The Olympic and Paralympic Games represent a market worth €5 billion for companies in many different areas (construction & public works, urban planning, circular economy, logistics, culture, etc.).”
A great many measures have been taken to open up this market to companies in the SSE sector. These measures include the “Entreprendre 2024” initiative launched by the companies of Groupe BPCE, a Premium Partner of Paris 2024. “With the support of ESS 2024(1), the Banque Populaire banks and Caisses d’Epargne, the retail banking networks of Groupe BPCE, a Premium Partner of Paris 2024, are supporting VSE/SMEs and SSE bodies throughout France” with a view to enabling them to seize “the economic opportunities linked to the Paris 2024 Games”, explains the press release.
Today, it is a question of going even further. “We are moving into the operational phase, with the launch of the first major contracts,” says Tony Estanguet, President of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Paris Games. The working agenda includes continued sourcing and support, strengthening the responsible procurement strategy, and finalizing the market mapping.
