Banque Populaire du Sud is a regional cooperative bank present in nine French départements: Ariège, Aude, Bouches du Rhône, Drôme, Gard, Hérault, Lozère, Pyrénées-Orientales, and the southern part of Ardèche. It boats a total of 2,070 employees, making it one of the largest regional employers.
In 2018, it gave permanent contracts to more than 130 new employees, chiefly from the region, and offered work-study contracts to some 100 young people. Attached to professional diversity in all its forms, the “Professional Equality” label awarded by the AFNOR standardization body has been confirmed for 2019.
In 2018, BPS added nearly 28,000 new people to its customer base, increasing the number of active customers by 2%. This momentum was driven, in particular, by the continuing high level enjoyed by our lending activities with nearly 40,000 projects funded in 2018, representing an aggregate total of €1.9 billion granted to all customer categories: individual and professional customers, SMEs, farmers, etc.
Thanks to the active involvement of our people and the trust placed in us by our customers, the bank achieved good results, enabling it to strengthen its reserves and – consequently – its capital adequacy and to guarantee its ability to continuing developing its activities in the future.
