Premium Partner of the Olympic & Paralympic Games Paris 2024

Surpassing yourself, giving your very best, and improving your personal performance: the Olympic movement is the perfect example of high performance… a performance founded on, and inspired by, the three universal values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect. Because we subscribe to these same ideals, we became the exclusive banking partner of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) in 2010. We also joined, the Paris 2024 national partnership program in 2019, thereby teaming up with one of the world’s most powerful events in terms of media coverage, and the biggest ever organized in France.

Major support for the sporting world in the regions

In addition to national partnerships, the Banque Populaire banks and Caisses d'Epargne support stakeholders in the world of sport within their respective regions. Our regional banks subsidize or sponsor more than 4,500 sports associations or clubs and, in doing so, actively participate in local life, encourage everyone to take part in sport, and contribute to the emergence of new talents.

The Group's companies have also provided support to approximately one hundred athletes throughout France.

Banque Populaire, the bank of the world of sailing and surfing

For more than 30 years Banque Populaire has been the ‘bank of sailing’ and, since 2020, the bank of the world of surfing. Through these two sports, Banque Populaire expresses its image as an audacious, dynamic, and high-performance bank, a sponsor that assumes the risks of its involvement in demanding competitive sports. Through this commitment, it supports all those who undertake new ventures and boldly commit themselves to the path of success.

Banque Populaire and sailing

As a ship-owner and competitor, Banque Populaire has distinguished itself on all the seas of the world for more than 30 years by enabling all enthusiasts to share the joy of sailing and to pursue their dreams by following legendary races on exceptional boats sailed by talented and determined skippers.

Team Banque Populaire, a winning side

The most successful sailing sponsor in the world, Banque Populaire, with its skippers and yachts, has triumphed in the world’s most prestigious races. To name but a few:  the Transat Jacques-Vabre in 2005 with Pascal Bidégorry and Lionel Lemonchois, the Jules Verne Trophy in 2012, and the Route du Rhum in 2014 with Loïck Peyron and, of course, the Vendée Globe with Armel Le Cléac'h in 2017...

It is also…

  • The builder of 5 multi-hull vessels, including the largest ocean-going racing trimaran ever built
  • 3 around-the-world races
  • 17 crewed and single-handed ocean sailing records
  • More than 40 participations in the largest ocean races
  • Owner of 12 sailing vessels

Two ocean racing skippers: Clarisse Crémer and Armel Le Cléac'h

Clarisse Crémer, a young yachtswoman and entrepreneur, joined Team Banque Populaire in 2019 at the age of 31 to take part in the 2020 edition of the Vendée Globe. With her progress guided by Armel Le Cléac’h, himself winner of this celebrated non-stop round-the-world race in 2016-2017, and supported by the entire Team, she set sail for this ‘Everest of the seas’ at the helm of her Mono Banque Populaire X. After 87 days of a breathtaking adventure, the young woman skipper completed her first round-the-world race with a most respectable ranking in 12th place. As the ‘First Lady’ of the 2020 Vendée Globe, she became the fastest woman in the history of the race, breaking the record held by Ellen MacArthur for the past 20 years.

As for Armel Le Cléac’h, the fact of winning his third Solitaire du Figaro race in October 2020, coming on the heels of his triumphs in 2003 and 2010, enabled him to join the most exclusive club of 3-times winners. He will start the Transat Jacques Vabre transatlantic race on the brand new Maxi Trimaran Banque Populaire XI, with Kevin Escoffier, next November.

For the greater glory of French sailing

Banque Populaire is also committed to the promotion of French sailing, accompanying the development of sailing clubs and schools, and has been supporting the French sailing team for 20 years.

  • 55,000 lifejackets and 6,000 boats or sails jointly financed through a partnership between Banque Populaire and the French Sailing Federation (FFV)
  • Support for 1,500 sailing clubs and schools

A new discipline: surfing

The same passion, the same natural environment for Banque Populaire! Just like sailing, surfing rewards individuals possessing an entrepreneurial spirit: a keen sense of observing their environment, anticipating actions taken by others, the mastery of innovation, a quest for performance, and a thirst for success. Since 2020, Banque Populaire has been an official partner of the French Surfing Federation (680,000 surfers, 80,000 licensees and 200 clubs in France and in French overseas territories) and will be supporting the French team when it competes in the Olympic Games for the very first time.

The partnership between Banque Populaire and the French Surfing Federation embraces the various disciplines supervised by the federation: shortboard and longboard surfing, and stand-up paddle racing.

Beyond sport, by becoming a partner of the French Surfing Federation, Banque Populaire is playing an active role in the Aisance Aquatique (‘At ease in the water’) initiative, a plan launched to prevent and limit deaths by drowning.

For the Caisse d'Epargne, several passions

The Caisse d'Epargne, a major partner of handball, basketball and skiing in France, has long been an energetic and passionate supporter of sports that unite and celebrate living together, in line with its cooperative values… sports that are rooted in local and regional France, accessible to all, and driven by popular enthusiasm. In addition to these ‘major’ team sports, the Caisse d'Epargne is also involved in their related disciplines such as basketball, 3x3 basketball, beach handball, etc.

Basketball and handball

The Caisse d'Epargne supports two collective sports that are extremely popular in France: basketball and handball. A partner of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) since the summer of 2014 and of the French Handball Federation (FFHB) since January 2015, it supports, in particular, the national French teams in these two disciplines. In 2019, it also became a partner of 3x3 basketball, a new Olympic discipline in 2020.

Team spirit, dynamism, and high performance are values shared by the French savings banks, enabling them not only to support the men’s and women’s national French teams but also to accompany outstanding projects such as major international sporting events.

French handball: an incredible success story!

Having already won a great many competitions, the France handball teams have added further titles to their impressive record since signing a partnership with the Caisse d'Epargne: for the men, two world titles (2015 and 2017), a silver medal at the Rio Olympics (2016), and a bronze medal at the last World Cup (2019); in the women’s category, a bronze medal at the European Championships (2016) and a first European title (2018), a silver medal in Rio (2016) and the title of world champion in 2017. This partnership with the French Handball Federation will last until 2024.

French basketball: an outstanding track record

Meanwhile, the women basketball players were runners-up in Europe in 2015, 2017 and 2019, while their male counterparts were bronze medalists at the World Championships in 2014 and 2019, and bronze medalists again at the European Championships in 2015. The French 3x3 basketball teams boast an outstanding track record: the men are European vice-champions (2019); and the women, European champions (2019) and bronze medalists at the World Championships in 2019.

We share the fortitude of rugby with Natixis

Natixis, which has been partnering the Racing 92 rugby club since 2007, has supported the Ile-de-France team over the years as it progressed to the very top of the French and European championships. In 2019, Natixis decided to renew its partnership with the players in sky-blue and white jerseys for a further three years.

Because rugby is a powerful tool for teaching values and promoting social diversity, Natixis is supporting the educational projects of three Racing 92 rugby schools (RCF Colombes, Racing-Plessis-Robinson and Racing-Nanterre) to train young talent and instill the values of teamwork and sport in the youngest members of society.

Natixis has also decided to become the sole sponsor of the recently created Racing 92 seven-a-side rugby team. This new sponsorship agreement dovetails naturally with our partnership with Paris 2024 given that seven-a-side rugby is an Olympic sport.

More than merely sponsoring rugby, however, Natixis has chosen to support a team and a club and, as such, to prolong its long-standing partnership with Racing 92: a partnership based on close, person-to-person exchanges and a unique opportunity to support the training of young players with a view to the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
